Fire Cider (Immune Tonic)

Ingredients (makes ~500ml):

  • ½ cup grated fresh horseradish (OR good quality 100% horseradish paste or powder - adjust accordingly as it will likely me more potent than fresh)

  • ½ cup chopped onion

  • ¼ cup grated ginger

  • ¼ cup grated turmeric (or 1 tbsp powder)

  • 5 garlic cloves (smashed)

  • 1 sliced chili or ½ tsp cayenne

  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon

  • Raw apple cider vinegar (to fill jar)

  • Raw honey (to taste, added after infusion)

  • optional: wakame, thyme, oregano, rosemary, sage etc, any medicinal herbs you have at home!

Instructions:

  1. Place all ingredients (except honey) into a sterilized jar.

  2. Cover with vinegar (ensure everything is submerged).

  3. Seal and store in a cool dark place for 3–4 weeks. Shake daily.

  4. Strain and add honey to taste. Store in the fridge.

  5. Take 1 tbsp daily or during illness, 1 tsp day for general wellbeing, or add to salad dressings etc.
